TIMED UP AND GO TEST

Equipment: stopwatch and standard arm chair

Test:

  1. Verbal command "Get ready, go"
  2. Pt. stands up, walks 3 meters, turns, and returns to sit in the chair.

Time the amount of time from "Go" to the return and sitting in the chair.
After one practice trial, the average of two trials is taken.

10 to 20 seconds: starting to have difficulty

>30 seconds -- pt. having difficulty
